I cannot believe that we just celebrated my baby boy's 1st birthday on Sunday. It is just hard to believe all that has happened in a year and how much he changed and grew in a year. His birthday party theme was Sesame Street, and it looked like our house belonged on Sesame Street.

His cake was so adorable! We got it at Lana's cakewalk here in town. She does such a good job decorating. And it was delicious too! Luke's great grandma, great aunt Susan and great aunt Cathy came all the way from New York, Aunt Sheree and Uncle Dave came along with Aunt Gracie, Auntie Alex, nanny and poppy, and Brad and Andrea and their little one named Luke too. It was a full house and I think Luke was a little overwhelmed. He was on and off cranky all day. He was too excited to take a long nap I guess. We had hamburgers and hot dogs and other snacks before we opened presents. Luke really wasn't interested in opening presents, but the other Luke was! So we let him help. He is 14 months old so he gets the concept that there is stuff under that paper.

He got lots of cool stuff. He got a lot of clothes which it good because he needed summer clothes. He got a basketball hoop (which he just started dunking on like 20 minutes ago). He got a ball pit which we haven't blown up yet. He also got a tunnel to crawl through which Gracie and I got him to crawl through today but he wasn't happy about it. He got a singing and dancing puppy which he likes. When it turns off he turns to me and looks at me like make him sing again. He got a drum which he likes to beat on. He got a bunch of other stuff that I just can't remember. Aunt Susan got him some books from Barnes and Nobel yesterday that he went to pick out and Uncle Rick sent him some books that we got today. He has just started sitting down and letting you read a book to him.
After presents we sang Happy Birthday and then it was time for the smash cake

He was a little timid with the smash cake at first, but once he figured it out, he almost ate the whole thing! I don't know how he didn't have the worst stomach ache.

He was a pretty worn out boy by the time it was all over. He went to bed about 8 and was awake at 9. We tried to get him up and rock him, we tried to give him more bottle, we gave him tylenol, nothing was doing the trick. He would be quite if we were rubbing his back while he laid in his bed cuddling with his dog. Eventually he cried himself out and slept until 10 the next day.

He has changed so much since the last post. He walks all the time now, and he can stand up without having to use something to pull up on. He started to say Hi, all done, all gone, and cookie. It seems he does something new every day and is just changing so fast. He is becoming more picky as to what he eats. And he doesn't eat nearly as often as he used to. He's pretty much off formula....woohoo no more buying formula, at least for a little while. He goes to the doctor Friday, so I will post then as to what he says. It will be interesting to see what he thinks of all he can do and say.
