Last night was not a good night for mommy, daddy, or Luke. Joe ate some cheesecake that apparently had gone bad because he was throwing up half the night. I guess his noise was disturbing Luke because he woke up at 10:45, 12:30, 2:30, and 5:30. I thought maybe he didn't like his new mattress so I took it out hoping that would help.....it didn't. So neither mommy or daddy got much sleep; daddy cause he didn't feel good, and mommy cause I had to feed the baby every time he woke up. Surprisingly, I didn't feel too bad this morning but around one o'clock I hit a brick wall. I was so tired, and Luke was wide eyed and bushy tailed. *sigh* I finally laid him in his bed at around 1:15 thinking he would scream and not go to sleep, but to my surprise after about 5 minutes of fusing he fell asleep. WOW!
I was anxious to get my necklace restrung, so I did that quickly and just as I laid down to take a nap.......WAAAAAAAH. *sigh* So we got up and eventually he took a bottle and fell asleep. He slept from 2:30 to 6. He slept through us going to get Gracie and take her to school and he continued to sleep after we got home. He did request a diaper change and a little bottle and right back to sleep he went. Must be nice to be able to sleep whenever, oh wait....3 months ago I know how that felt! HAHA. Oh well, I guess I can sleep when I'm dead.
He is getting very excited to fly out to Arizona to see Grandma and Grandpa. I am getting very anxious and nervous. I don't like flying to begin with, and now I have to worry about flying and him. I just hope he doesn't scream the whole way. If he does, we will be driving back I think. We will be in Arizona September 3-10. Then grandma and grandpa will be out in October to visit and we plan on going to the Covered Bridge Festival. We are so excited to see friends and family. And I know I can say I am excited for the shopping. Who me? Ya I know....I have a problem. HAHA
I am hoping that I will be able to sleep like little man is in this picture tonight. He might have a slightly crabby mommy tomorrow if I don't get a little more sleep tonight :-)

Mommy's new hobby
As some may know, my mom was the craftiest person I knew. She could make anything! She could sew clothes and costumes and all kinds of stuff without a pattern. One of her many talents included making jewelery. She couldn't get out of the house much, especially in the winter due to her lung condition, so she had to find stuff to keep her occupied, and this is one hobby she decided to take up. She was very good at making jewelry. She would sit in her chair for hours and make bracelets, earrings, and necklaces. Yesterday, for some unknown reason, I decided I wanted to learn how to make jewelery. So, I set out to find all her beads in supplies. (I knew they were somewhere in this house) I started off downstairs, looking under the stairs, where it is very dark so I needed a flashlight. So I got the mag-light and was searching and put it down on a tub and it proceeded to roll of the tub onto the top of my foot! I was pretty sure I broke my foot, but nurse Gracie got me an ice pack and I sat for a while till it quit hurting. Then my search was back on. Out to the garage I went. I looked and looked and didn't see any boxes that said beads. I was just about to give up and I saw a lowly tub smothered by a Christmas tub. I lifted the Christmas tub out of the way and there it was! Everything (almost) I needed to get started. Gracie and I then went to Hobby Lobby and got a few extras and I started to make a necklace.
This is what I ended up with in the end. I was pretty pleased with myself. Of course as I was clamping down the last clamp, it broke! So today I had to re-string it again, but at least I was successful this time. I then decided to make a bracelet with Luke's name on it. This is what I came up with
There is a picture frame charm that I have to figure out how to squeeze a picture in. There is also a cross, and a bead that is his birthstone. I love being able to make my own bracelets because I have such small wrists, I can make them fit! I can wear baby bracelets I swear!
Sometimes Luke lets me work, other times he wants full attention! But that's ok. We go with what he wants!

Hand prints on my heart
A couple of days ago, I was feeding Luke, and he has gotten to the stage where he is exploring everything with his hands and I was holding his bottle and he just rested his hand on my wrist. I'm sure as any mom knows simple little things like this just melt your heart, and that's exactly what it did. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my little boy learn new things and explore new things right in front of my eyes. I think its a feeling only a mother can know to watch something that you created learn and thrive. Luke loves to put his hands on my face and just grab my nose or eyes, and even my tongue when I stick it out at him. He also loves to stick his own hands in his mouth. They are always in there! Little does this little boy know how much of an effect he has on me. I am wrapped around his little finger already. I never knew a heart could love someone so much who I have only known for 3 1/2 months! He sure is leaving his little hand prints on my heart!

Parties and Pagents
So, I've been trying to figure out this whole blogging website and how to use it, and I found a book on Amazon that tells me how to use this blogger. I got it yesterday and looked at it today, so I think I've figured out how to use this at least a little bit! So let the blogging begin!! We had a pool party yesterday, Joe smoked pork loin.
It turned out really good. Luke went swimming for a little bit. I got him a Cars pool float that he can sit in, but he's so heavy when he leaned back in it, it would almost flip backwards. He didn't seem to care to much about the water. I don't think he has figured out that he can splash like he does in the bath tub. I am usually soaked by the time I am done bathing him. He thinks its funny. He had a good time at the party, and wanted to go to bed by 8. I wasn't far behind him! Today were going to the precious baby contest at Pony Express Days. He will be wearing his "limo driver" hat (as I call it). After that, were going to watch some mud drags. I will let you know how the precious baby contest goes!
Update: Well that baby contest was rigged! Luke didn't win anything!! But I don't care cause I know he is most precious and he could have beat all those older babies up cause he was bigger than all of them. My arms just about fell off holding him so long! They still hurt. I feel like I did a ton of arm workouts. He had a big weekend, and he is tired, that's why he said he didn't smile.
On another note, Joe and I think we have figured out why he doesn't sleep through the night anymore. He's been sleeping in his pack n play and we just have him laying on the "mattress" that came with it and we think he gets tired of laying on the hard thing so he wakes up in the middle of the night. Of course he eats while he's up, but this morning he fell asleep while sitting in his boppy and I moved him over in between me and Joe and he slept for an extra two hours, so I just think he gets tired of that hard board. So I ordered him a matress off amazon so I'm excited to see if that will work and he will let mommy sleep just a little more. Luke is calling out for me to snuggle him cause he's sleepy so I must go!!

My first blog
So I've decided to write a blog for family members who we don't get to see often to keep them updated on us, but mostly keep them updated on Luke cause he's most important! I'm still in the learning phase so there may be some weird things going on till I get this thing figured out.
Oreo decided to cuddle with Luke while he was playing on the floor. Oreo loves her little brother.
