As some may know, my mom was the craftiest person I knew. She could make
anything! She could sew clothes and costumes and all kinds of stuff without a pattern. One of her many talents included making jewelery. She couldn't get out of the house much, especially in the winter due to her lung condition, so she had to find stuff to keep her occupied, and this is one hobby she decided to take up. She was very good at making jewelry. She would sit in her chair for hours and make bracelets, earrings, and necklaces. Yesterday, for some unknown reason, I decided I wanted to learn how to make jewelery. So, I set out to find all her beads in supplies. (I knew they were somewhere in this house) I started off downstairs, looking under the stairs, where it is very dark so I needed a flashlight. So I got the mag-light and was searching and put it down on a tub and it proceeded to roll of the tub onto the top of my foot! I was pretty sure I broke my foot, but nurse Gracie got me an ice pack and I sat for a while till it quit hurting. Then my search was back on. Out to the garage I went. I looked and looked and didn't see any boxes that said beads. I was just about to give up and I saw a lowly tub smothered by a Christmas tub. I lifted the Christmas tub out of the way and there it was! Everything (almost) I needed to get started. Gracie and I then went to Hobby Lobby and got a few extras and I started to make a necklace.

This is what I ended up with in the end. I was pretty pleased with myself. Of course as I was clamping down the last clamp, it broke! So today I had to re-string it again, but at least I was successful this time. I then decided to make a bracelet with Luke's name on it. This is what I came up with
There is a picture frame charm that I have to figure out how to squeeze a picture in. There is also a cross, and a bead that is his birthstone. I love being able to make my own bracelets because I have such small wrists, I can make them fit! I can wear baby bracelets I swear!
Sometimes Luke lets me work, other times he wants full attention! But that's ok. We go with what he wants!
You have certainly inherited your mother's talent to go with your artist's eye. I love the necklace and bracelet. Stay with this artistic craft.
ReplyDeleteJust don't get hurt looking for supplies. Haha
